In all our studies and experiences of life, can we really know God exists? Many in our world today say, no. They may believe in God, Jesus, or another deity, but voice their doubts, they don’t really know for sure. Because we cannot prove our beliefs with physical proof, they will not accept God and Jesus are alive as absolute truth and will argue their point. Is there anything we, as believers, can do to assure them Jesus is real? Yes, we can assure them through faith we can know Jesus and God exists.
Faith is the only avenue that leads to full knowledge and acceptance of Father God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. No living person can say, I have seen God/Jesus. Yet, we can feel His presence, see the works of His hands in our lives, enjoy the blessings He has given, and see His miracles. It is by faith and faith alone, we accept the truth, Jesus is alive and is seated in Heaven with Father God.
Hebrews 11:5-6 (NKJV) 5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Father God tells us faith pleases Him because there is no definite proof. However, when we diligently seek Him, we can find Him. When we look, we find Him in the Word (Bible), in nature, in the kindnesses of those around us, and in the love in our hearts. We can see Him through the blessings He has given us…our family, friends, and neighbors. We can experience His goodness through our jobs, His protection, and His concern for our eternal lives. Our faith firms when the unexplained miracles occur.
Jesus came that we might have an abundant life. He never promises riches in wealth and possessions, but in a life filled with love. Will there be struggles, illness, and even death? Yes, because that is part of life. But Jesus will always walk with us…He will never leave or forsake us.
So, to answer the original question…Can we really know God exists? My answer is yes. Through faith, I see His goodness in the world around me. I see His handiwork in the majestic mountains, rivers, and plains. I see Him in my loved ones. I experience Him in the generosity of others. I see Him even in the difficulties…teaching me, encouraging me, and lifting me when I fall.
Next time you encounter someone who has trouble accepting God is real, remind them of all His handiworks and of His love. Share the miracles you have heard of or experienced in your life. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God and of His greatness in each of our lives…so plant the seed of faith, water it with God’s love flowing through your hears, and hopefully it will grow.
