Psalm 23:1-6 (NKJV)
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
My Lord provides all I my needs and many of my “I wants” as I live day to day.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
When the cares of this life or circumstances rocket out of control (whether do to my poor decisions or circumstances out of my ability to change) he leads me to a place of peace and tranquility…my total dependence is upon Him.
3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
He restores my confidence and strength when I don’t know what to do. He directs my way; helps me control my thoughts and actions…he leads me toward a life of holiness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
The world is barren and filled with death, worldly ways, ideas, and philosophies that can lead my soul to eternal death, yet I do
not fear. Jesus never leaves my side. I am comforted by Your guidance…You direct me down the path you desire me to take.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
Though surrounded by enemies of my faith, The Holy Spirit instills Your wisdom within me. He allows me to deal with their accusations and recriminations. I am awed by Your overwhelming grace and mercy.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.
Because of my faith in Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, I am assured of his unending love and forgiveness everyday. I give my praise, heart, will, and life to Jesus. As a result, I will live with my Father in Heaven forever.
