Hopeful

It came to my attention many people are focusing on a single word that will guide them for the year ahead. In our busy, hustle bustle world. This is a very upbeat idea. When things (work, family, life in general) press in, focusing on one positive word, given my God, can bring peace and calm in the middle of a storm. It can focus my (or your) heart and mind in times of joy and reminds me who to thank.  So I prayed about it. Over and over this one word came to mind.  Hopeful.

I had to stop and think about why this particular word. My initial thought prior to my prayers was prepare would be my word. After all, that is the focus of this blog and my fictional stories. Preparing for the times ahead fills much of my conversations with others as well. When hopeful emerged pushing aside all others words, I was surprised.

Our belief in hard times ahead can at times be very pessimistic. That is a direct opposite of hopeful. Yet, with God there is always hope. I believe God needed to remind me I must remain hopeful at all times and never allow the events of our times rob me of what He has for me…peace, joy and happiness in the mist of whatever is going on around me.

Hopeful is a great word with lots of definitions. I searched a thesaurus for other words that mean the same thing. Confident, expectant, optimistic, positive, encouraged, buoyant, anticipative, promising, rosy, likely, aspiring, prospective, potential, possible, seeker.

So in the year ahead I plan to be a confident believer in my Lord Jesus. Encouraged and expectant He will guide and direct me in all He wants me to do. Aspiring to see all the potential ahead as a seeker of all He has for me.

What is your word for the year ahead? How will focusing on it help, guide and direct you?

This is great, Donna. My word is FOCUS. I’m to focus on who I am in Him, on the task he has for me & on my everyday life tasks so I can accomplish more. Thank you for the time you take to remind us of His Hope, His Love & His Grace that will see us through whatever comes our way.
