Have you ever heard something on the television or radio that had you yelling at the speaker? Well, I have and I did. We were watching a popular program when a man blamed God after someone was murdered. The man went on to say, it shook his faith. The character felt God should have stopped it and didn’t. Therefore, God was at fault. That’s where I lost it. I started yelling at the squack box, ‘Don’t slander my God. The guy who killed the other man is responsible, not God. God is love and filled with kindness. He hates all evil.’
So for those who question God, I have a query for you. If God is responsible for everything that happens in this life, where does free will come in? And if there is no free will, how can we be held responsible for any sin? In turn, why would Jesus have to come to earth and pay the penalty for our sins?
Many people don’t understand free will or God for that matter. The writer of the show I watched obviously does not. Most likely he or she (and most people in the world) have only heard about God, but don’t know Him. If they have accepted God/Jesus, they have a very long way to go in learning the true character of God. They have little knowledge of what He will and will not do. Unfortunately, this is true of a great many believers too.
God will NOT violate our free will. Even to the point of murder. That’s why God hates sin. Free will applies to everyone…good and bad. That’s why our choices matter…that’s why free will matters. What God does do, comforts, bring to justice the evil one, and works to bring things around for our good. Some would say…what good can come out of the loss of a loved one? Truthfully, I don’t know. But God knows each situation and He does know. I truly believe that! God is love and because His love drives everything He does, I have faith God will make things right in the end.
So next time you hear something that doesn’t sound right or is an outright lie about God/Jesus, think about what the person is saying. Do they understand that God/Jesus acts only in love? Do they understand as human beings, we are responsible for our actions because of free will? We get to choose good or evil.
God does not need us to defend Him, but we can do it anyway. The world needs to hear God is love and He will never hurt or harm anyone. We need to step up and correct people (in love) when they slander our loving Father God
