In the current age of enticing philosophies, legalistic religions, and the feel good messages the world has to offer, Proverb’s scriptures are timeless and speak powerfully in the age in which we live. It is one of the most powerful books in the Bible. It encourages us to choose God’s wisdom over the ideologies and false religions of man. It is more important than ever, we, God’s people seek all that our Father in Heaven has to give us…insight and wisdom. That we hide His words in our hearts, so we will not sin against Him. And as we walk in step with Him, His wisdom will guard our hearts from the onslaught of misdirection, deceit, and false promises our world has to offer.
Everyone makes poor decisions at times. We say or do something contrary to God’s plan for our lives. When this happens, (I assure you everyone steps off God’s roadway and into quicksand on occasion) we must be quick to repent…turn back and reestablish our walk with Jesus. We must stand firm and solid in our faith and seek wisdom. Without it, we can easily be lead from the path God has firmly established.
We must tune our ears to hear God’s voice. That still small inflection of wisdom pulling us down His path…His best for our lives. He will give us understanding, even when it seems there is none to be had. He will give us knowledge when we need to know which way to turn or what to do. He will shield our hearts and minds if we walk humbly with Him. All Father God/Jesus asks is that we do what is right, honorable, and loving.
Seek to understand what it means to fear the Lord. The world would have us believe we must shake with anxiety and foreboding as we approach God (or that He does not exist). Yet, have no trepidation. Come to Him with awe and respect. Understand His love is great and unending. Jesus loves and forgives all who come to Him and ask. He intercedes on our behalf. So have no fear…only love, praise, and worship.
As we prepare our hearts and minds for the dark days ahead, we encourage you to seek God’s plan for you and your family. Choose God’s wisdom and though times may be difficult, you will have the joy of the Lord.
Proverbs 2:1-11 (NLT) 1 My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. 2 Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. 3 Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. 4 Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. 5 Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. 8 He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. 9 Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go. 10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. 11 Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.
